Brianna J. Morrison
About Brianna
Brianna Morrison works with the firm’s financial services department, where she provides counsel to creditors on a variety of issues. Brianna’s work includes representing clients in bankruptcy, creditors in collection actions, and creditors in enforcing and collecting on judgments. Brianna also has experience representing higher educational institutions regarding disputes over student loans.
Before joining Miller Nash, Brianna practiced at a firm in South Carolina where she assisted clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, as well as Subchapter V of Chapter 11. During her time in South Carolina, Brianna also represented the Chapter 7 trustee in avoidance actions, such as preferential and fraudulent transfers under the Statute of Elizabeth.
During law school, Brianna clerked for the National Indian Country Training Coordinator at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina. Brianna also had the chance to work with a group of students to draft a Family Law Code for the Catawba Nation of South Carolina. She also served as a legal extern for the Honorable David R. Duncan of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina where she researched the Statute of Elizabeth and worked on a bankruptcy guide for pro se debtors.
Brianna’s experience in bankruptcy law and knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code enables her to resolve complex issues, and craft efficient solutions for clients.

Represented national rental car company in a state court arbitration regarding a collection matter, obtaining a general judgment based on the arbitration award in favor of client, leading to payment in satisfaction of judgment.

Assisted a client in the plumbing, waterworks, and hydronics industry with domestication of foreign judgment and garnishment, leading to payment in full and satisfaction of judgment.

Assisted client with ejectment in Washington, leading to the client gaining full possession of the property.

Represented Chapter 7 debtors in a reply to an objection to the debtors’ homestead exemption in the debtors’ house and burial plots. The court denied the objection and declared that under the South Carolina homestead exemption statute a debtor can claim an exemption in both a homestead and burial plot if the combined value is below the exemption limit.

Assisted the supervising attorney in representing a hotel in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding. Drafted first day motions and assisted the client in completing the initial debtor interview and monthly operating reports.

Represented the Chapter 7 trustee in multiple preference actions against creditors and negotiated favorable settlements.

Conducted multiple Bankruptcy Rule 2004 examinations for the Chapter 7 trustee to uncover potential assets for the estate and potential Statute of Elizabeth claims.

Outside the Office
Brianna enjoys an active lifestyle, whether it’s swimming six miles in the ocean or running a 32-mile obstacle course. She also has a passion for drawing and painting.
